When Slender came out it took an already popular internet legend and blew him up to be a cultural icon. The original game took the idea of a mysterious and frightening figure that had only been featured in stories, photos and short films and created an interactive experience that made many a person shit their pants.
At the end of the day though, it was kind of an ugly game with a few neat tricks. Given that it was a quick game made by one person, that's easily forgivable and it makes the core game much more impressive. However, there's a sequel coming and now it has the backing of a much larger team. Two to be precise. Blue Isle Studios and Parsec Productions are working together to expand upon the story of Slenderman and to give the game some much needed depth.
From the trailer we can see that the game will use different and unique locations to tell it's story and these new settings look fantastic. Like reality filtered through a dreamy lens. We also see that the player will not only be pursued by Slenderman, but by his strange masked minion, affectionately named "Masky" by the fandom.
The trailer reveals a depth of love and care that's surprising to see for something that's a follow up to such a simple game. Hopefully we wont have to wait long before Slenderman is on the hunt again.
