A Comic Book Blog is reporting that their "inside source" has revealed to them that "The Walking Dead" will appear in some capacity at Universal Studio Orlando's Halloween Horror Night event. Now, of course, this early on you want to dash a bit of salt on any rumor you hear.
The rumor goes on to say that the popular zombie show could get the maze treatment and would be inspired by the upcoming third season of the show, which prominently features a prison as it's setting. So how much stock can you put in a rumor like this? Well, here are some concerns:
When it comes to mazes based on hit horror properties, you usually find that Universal Studios Hollywood is the theme park that delivers in that area. It's not totally uncommon for Orlando to have a movie based maze, but it's definitely more of a Hollywood thing.
The other interesting note I see is that their inside source points to last year's Alice Cooper maze as an example of a type of success they want to recapture. Do they mean a maze that's not movie based, but still has it's roots in entertainment? Either way, it's an odd claim since that was a Hollywood based maze.
So is the rumor without merit? I actually think there's a pretty good chance it could happen. AMC is a smart company, they know that their "Walking Dead" fans are ravenous and to have a maze featured in one of the premiere Halloween events would have them chomping at the bit. In fact, I'm willing to go so far as to say that AMC would be smart enough to have their show promoted at both Hollywood and Orlando.
Halloween Horror Nights will most likely start it's run way before season three of "The Walking Dead" kicks off, so you can just imagine the amount of publicity and word of mouth that would spread if people were able to get a sneak peek into the new season through a kick ass Horror Nights maze.
Anyways, at this point, anything is possible. It'll be a long dry summer as we wait for the rains of certainty to wash away all doubt and reveal the mazes for the upcoming season.
